STAFF and pupils at Yate Academy have been celebrating their "excellent" set of GCSE and BTEC results.

Despite the disruption of the last three years of their education, their resilience has meant that they can move onto the next stage with fantastic outcomes and a huge sense of pride.

Overall, 12 per cent of grades awarded were either a grade 9 or a Distinction* and 49 per cent of students achieved at least one top grade (compared to 46% in 2022) and 19 per cent achieved at least 2 grades at grade 9 or Distinction*.

55 per cent of students leave with at least a grade 5 in both English and maths which is the highest percentage ever.

Similarly, this year marks the highest percentage of the Government's EBacc measure with 27 per cent of students achieving a grade 5 or more across English, maths, science, history or geography and a modern foreign language.

Students who stand out include Frances Green who achieved outstanding grades: 8 grade 9s,  2 Distinction* and a grade 8.

James Harding-Mbogo, deputy headteacher said, “These results are a testament to the hard work of our students and the support of their teachers and parents over the course of this year.

"We are particularly delighted that so many students achieved the top grades of 9 / D* and we look forward to seeing their progress in Year 12 and 13.”

Headteacher Natalie Wilcox said: “I would like to thank the students and their families for their hard work and commitment throughout the students’ time at school.

"I am proud of every single one of them and wish them the very best for the future - I know that I will hear great things!

"I would also like to give credit to staff for everything they have done to support students during their Key Stage 4 course.

"I am incredibly lucky to have worked with such a fantastic group of professionals in my time at Yate Academy.”
