A HOUSING development of 42 new homes near Wotton has been completed.
A new estate in Charfield has been built with a mixture of one-and two-bedroom flats as well as two, three and four-bedroomed houses in Wotton Road.
Built by developer Barratt Homes, the homes are classed as affordable with 31 of the homes reserved for social rent through a partnership with Green Square Accord.
Meanwhile, the other 11 are available through a low-cost home ownership scheme.
The development is known as Charfield Gardens and also has an orchard nearby with apple, pear, and plum trees.
All of the homes come with their own parking space.
Gavin Saunders, who has recently moved into a home on Poskett Way, Charfield Gardens said: “I am grateful for the opportunity to have a fresh start in Charfield.
“I feel like I’m settling in really well and thoroughly enjoying making my new place feel like home.”
Poskett Way was named in honour of a long-standing member of Charfield Parish Council, John Poskett.
Councillor John O’Neill, cabinet member with responsibility for housing at South Gloucestershire Council, said: “I’m delighted to see people move into these new homes in Charfield.
“This development meets the council’s affordable housing objectives, delivering 42 affordable homes and a mix of houses and flats for social rent tenure and shared ownership.
“There are also three adapted properties and six self-build plots, offering a range of options for potential residents.”
Denise Woolford, development officer from Green Square Accord, said “We are proud to handover the keys to our customers in South Gloucestershire.
“We are providing both one- and two-bedroom apartments as well as two, three and four-bedroomed houses to meet a variety of housing needs.”
Andrea Pilgrim, sales director at Barratt Homes Bristol said: “Barratt knows the need for and is a major developer of affordable houses in the UK.
“We’ve delivered over 27,000 in the last ten years. So we are delighted to have worked with GreenSquareAccord on these beautiful new homes at our Gloucestershire site.
“Charfield is a lovely place to live, and we can’t wait to welcome all the new residents.”
