AN opening date for a new supermarket near Wotton has finally been revealed after months and months of delays.

It has been announced the new Co-op store in Station Road, Charfield is due to open its doors in mid October 2023.

The new store will be located near the recently approved Charfield train station, which was officially given the green light by South Gloucestershire Council in March 2023.

A spokesperson for Co-op, said: “I can confirm that we are aiming to open a store in Charfield with one of our franchise partners.

“At present we are aiming for the new store to be opened in October this year.”

Meanwhile, in a Facebook statement, a spokesperson from Charfield Co-op said: “I know a lot of you will have been wondering if the new Co-op is ever going to open.

“I’ve got some exciting news! A local Co-op franchisee will now be taking over this site and we’re pleased to say it’ll be opening in October 2023!

“A franchise store looks and operates exactly like a regular Co-op and by going down the franchise route it’s possible to get your much anticipated store open quickly.”

They added: “We will be advertising for team leaders over the next couple of weeks and then customer team members shortly after.

“The opening hours will be 7am-10pm. The opening date will be around mid October.”
