RESIDENTS can tell developers what they think about plans for more than 2,750 homes, new schools and community hub on the outskirts of Gloucester.
Taylor Wimpey is preparing proposals for a new community on land at Whaddon south of the city.
The site lies within Stroud District Council’s area and the area has long been earmarked for sustainable development.
But ahead of submitting a planning application the developers have launched a consultation and say they welcome public comments on the proposals.
Their intention is to develop more than 320 acres of agricultural land and up to 30 per cent of the new homes coiled be affordable.
The scheme may include a new local centre and community hub which provides shops, health care, children’s nursery along with food and drink venues.
A new secondary school and two primary schools are also being considered as part of the proposals.
The site itself is bound to the west by the Bristol to Gloucester railway line, beyond this is the Waterwells employment area and the Kingsway residential area.
To the north is Grange Road and the neighbouring residential area of Tuffley. And to the east is the A4173, Stroud Road, and the settlements of Whaddon and the northern part of Brookthorpe.
The south of the site is bounded by the M5 motorway and Naas Lane.
“We feel developing at Whaddon Grange has the right attributes to make a successful new Community,” Taylor Wimpey’s consultation reads.
“Our plans for the site will deliver a high-quality scheme that, if approved, will provide much-needed new homes to meet the unmet need of the Gloucester City area.”
