MORE than £300k in funding has been secured for the major renovation and expansion of a football pavilion.
The renovation and expansion of the football pavilion at King George V playing fields, Wickwar, aims to provide a modern and inviting space for local football teams, families plus the community at large.
The upgraded pavilion will include features like new changing rooms and better accessibility, ensuring that the playing fields remain a central spot for sports and community events locally.
Leader of South Gloucestershire Council Claire Young said: "This funding marks a big step forward for Wickwar and the football community.
"The revamped pavilion will not only improve facilities but more importantly increase the number of teams that can take part in sport locally.
"It's a result of the hard work of our residents and local councils working together."
Councillor Adrian Rush said: "The King George V playing fields hold a special place in our hearts, and this funding will help breathe new life into this space.
"We believe this project will empower the community and promote physical well-being for years to come."
