A BERKELEY man must pay nearly £500 for failing to buy a £8.70 rail ticket.
Karzai Khan, aged 21, was found guilty of travelling on the railway without paying a fare at Bristol Temple Meads on June 29.
The case was proved in his absence at Bristol Magistrates' on Monday, September 18.
Khan, of Berkeley Road, Berkeley, was fined £220 and ordered to pay £8.70 in compensation plus an £88 victim services surcharge and £180 costs.
The total of £496.70 must be paid by October 16.
