TWO failed asylum seekers have been found at the premises of a kebab shop.
Police swooped on Dursley Kebab and Pizza, in Parsonage Street, to search the premises last week.
They uncovered two failed asylum seekers, one of whom was working at the shop.
A 32-year-old Turkish man was discovered preparing food behind the counter.
He admitted to officers that his claim for asylum in 2002 was bogus and that he had made it in order to avoid National Service with the Turkish Army. Since then he had been avoiding authorities and working illegally.
Officers also discovered a second Turkish man concealed under a bed in a flat above the premises. Immigration officials said the 28-year-old man had entered the UK in 2004 and was hiding out at the shop after his claim for asylum failed.
Both were arrested and detained and are awaiting removal from the UK.
The owner of the takeaway, a 34-year-old Turkish man with British Citizenship, has been given a civil penalty notice by the Government's immigration department.
The penalty means he is now liable to pay up to £10,000 depending on how serious immigration deem it to be.
