On Friday the 10th November at 10:30 Student Leaders and Army Cadets met to stand on the sports hall balcony in front of the Standard Bearer, who stood below in the centre row of the astroturf, being the representative of the royal British legion.
10:40 students and teachers of SBL gathered to their allocated areas on the astroturf connected to SBL sports centre to line up in their houses being Titan, Calisto , Europa and Atlas.
Sir Bernard Lovell Academy had a two minute silence at 11:00 to respect all of the soldiers who had fought for us between the years of 1914-1918 world war one as well as world war two 1939-1945,
Before the silence we had an impeccable speech from Dr Robin Bassford the newly appointed head master of SBL.
A beautiful poem by the name of “In Flanders Fields” was read by the year 11 Student leaders.
At the end of the two minute silence the bugler played “the last post ”,afterwards the wreath was laid by two local army cadets.
And a big thank you to the technician’s for setting up the speakers , as well as the bugler and Standard Bearer.
