Thornbury Area Youth Music (TAYM), got Christmas off to a melodic start with the end of term Winter Concerts, held at Manorbrook School on Saturday 2nd December.

The event opened with Foundation and LP1 (Year 1) and LP2 (Year 2) students demonstrating their skills, including a rendition of 'Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious' in front of family and friends.

After Christmas themed refreshments, donated by parents, the older students took to the stage. The Ensemble performance of 'Fairytale of New York' was particularly poignant following the recent news.

The Choir wished everyone a Merry Christmas (Feliz Navidad), and The Massed Orchestra reminded us, in the final item, that 'It's Beginning to Look Like Christmas'.

The Mayor of Thornbury, Clllr James Murray, attended with his 'Junior Consorts' Rafferty and Rose. Rafferty and Rose provided invaluable assistance in drawing the Raffle Tickets at the end of the Concerts.

In the best Christmas tradition, Martin Tucker and Keith Gayler, attended bearing a gift - a generous donation from Thornbury Lodge Masons towards TAYM Funds.

Trudy Monday, Head of Centre, thanked Martin and Keith, and assured them that the donation would be used to benefit TAYM students.

Thornbury Area Youth Music provides professionally tutored Wind and String Music Lessons for students aged 4 - 18 years old. The classes are held at Manorbrook School on Saturday mornings during term term.

TAYM is firmly of the opinion that no child, who is interested in learning to play music, should be prevented from doing so because of financial restrictions.

Fees are affordable, and financial assistance is made available. Further information can be found on the website: www.thornbury-music.org
