A SCHOOL has recently paid tribute to a “lovely” and “caring” former teacher after his tragic death.

Emergency services searching for Vincent Le Goascoz found a body in Redcliff Quay in Bristol on Wednesday (December 6), after the 35-year-old went missing on Saturday (December 2).

Avon and Somerset Police say at this stage his death is not being treated as suspicious.

Mr Le Goascoz, who was French, previously worked at Katharine Lady Berkeley's School for seven years from 2016, before moving to Fairfield High School in Bristol.

KLB has flown the French flag at half-mast in his memory.

So far, more than £16,000 has been raised on a GoFundMe fundraising page to support Vincent's family.

In a letter to parents, Headteacher Hannah Khan said: “It is with such sadness that I write to inform you about the death of Vincent Le Goascoz.

“You will be aware from my email earlier this week that Vincent had been missing since Friday evening.

"Avon and Somerset Police confirmed that they had found a body which they believe to be Vincent’s while they were continuing their search in Redcliff Quay.

“They have informed Vincent’s family and are supporting them.

“Vincent was a truly lovely man who had the most caring nature.

“Over the seven years he worked at KLB, he touched the lives of many students as a teacher and tutor.

“He was a fabulous colleague and loyal friend to many KLB staff.

“We are a community in shock. Over the coming days and weeks, we will come together to share memories and think about how we celebrate his life and contribution to our school community.

“For now, we will be flying the French flag at half-mast outside school in Vincent’s memory.

“We will hold assemblies for all students tomorrow and talk about school support.

“As parents, please share this tragic news with your children. If you feel your child will cope better being with family and staying at home, we will understand, but ask that you phone school to let us know.

“Thank you for your continued support.”

A police spokesperson previously said: “The body was found by police divers at Redcliff Quay, Bristol, and while formal identification has not taken place, we believe it to be Vincent.

“At this stage the death is not being treated as suspicious.

“Vincent’s family has been informed and we’re offering them support.

"Our thoughts are with them at this very difficult time.

“We’d like to thank the public for their help sharing our appeal to find Vincent and for contacting us with information.”
