A STUNNING historic Gothic mansion near Wotton has been voted the best hotel venue in the region.
Tortworth Court was named the winner at The Wedding Industry Awards 2024 which took place at Aldwick Estate near Weston-super-Mare.
The 19th century venue was recognised for its impressive conservatory now known as The Orangery.
The grand conservatory, built in 1874, has an ornamental glass ceiling and is filled with natural light and greenery.
The site has an interesting past, during World War Two, the mansion became a naval training base for coding and signals, under the name of HMS Cabbala.
Meanwhile, the building was damaged by a large fire in 1991 and was eventually restored and expanded at a reported cost of £20 million.
Polly Savage, wedding manager at De Vere Tortworth Court, said: “It’s an honour to win such a prestigious award.
“It’s so rewarding to know that the work that we do behind the scenes and on a couple's wedding days doesn’t go unmissed.
“The whole team is passionate about creating the most perfect day for all our couples and we all work tirelessly to make sure this happens.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming our 2024 brides to De Vere Tortworth Court in the new year.”
The Orangery accepts private hire bookings for up to 120 guests and also features an outside dining area.
Meanwhile, the site itself also features 30-acres of parkland surrounding it and an extensive arboretum.
The Tortworth Court will now move onto the national finals of the awards which is due to be held on January 24 next year in London.
