DOZENS of presents and festive treats were recently delivered to disadvantaged families in Yate.
Santa and his helpers gave out gifts on Friday morning, December 22 with community group Family Food 4 Free based in the Yate Town Council offices.
It comes after employees at the Westerleigh-based pig farming company Pilgrim's UK raised nearly £600 and received more than 100 gifts for the local group this year.
Mark Thompson from Pilgrim's said: “It was quite an emotional morning seeing the happiness in the children’s and parents' faces.
“It's unfortunate that food banks have to exist in the first place.
“We as a company and myself as an individual will strive to help as much as we can to help support the more vulnerable parts of society, together we are stronger.”
Food 4 Free was founded by Daniel and Aimee Waters during the pandemic and started out on a one metre table at the front of their home.
However, the need grew larger and they now operate a community shop in Poole Court distributing free food supplies, meals, children’s lunches and items.
They are open every Tuesday and Friday.
Meanwhile, Pilgrim's say they hope to continue fundraising for Food 4 Free with upcoming fundraisers including an Easter egg drive and a parachute jump.
