THE Tesco Superstore in Thornbury has now been closed for three days as the ongoing chaos caused by Storm Henk continues.
The supermarket was first closed on Tuesday, January 2 due to a power outage caused by “heavy rainfall and localised flooding”.
It is understood the supermarket lost all frozen and fresh stock due to the situation.
A statement issued by a staff member from the Thornbury Tesco on social media, reads: “Tesco will be closed again today, including the petrol station.
“We’ve managed to get the lights working in the store but are still working extremely hard to get everything back up and running to reopen to the public.
“Thank you for your patience, sorry for any inconvenience.”
A Tesco Spokesperson said: “Our Thornbury Superstore is currently closed due to a power outage caused by heavy rainfall and localised flooding.
"Our maintenance team are working hard to ensure the store is able to reopen as soon as possible. We apologise for the inconvenience caused.”
Meanwhile, a staff member from the Thornbury Aldi issued a statement on social media announcing that fresh products will be arriving soon in store.
The Aldi statement reads: “Happy New Year to all.
“Some context to the last few days and the weekend ahead for our customers.
“Obviously the closure of Tesco wasn't anticipated and unfortunately fell on a difficult week for us to react.
“This is due to our fresh orders being ordered for us post New Year.
“We will have a full offer of our fresh products over the weekend.
“We appreciate your patience with product availability not being to our usual standards going into the evenings this week.
“We also welcome all new customers who have tested us out the past few days and to the ones venturing into our store over the weekend.
“We're told Tesco is closed at least until Monday.
“Have a great weekend Thornbury.”
