AN UPDATE has been released as to why construction is currently taking place at Waitrose in Chipping Sodbury.
The store in Wickwar Road is due to get four new electric vehicle charging points installed, in partnership with Shell.
The work began this week, with the points expected to be in operation by the end of the month.
The shop will remain open as usual, with no impact on trade
It comes as there were rumours circulating on social media this week that the store could be closing down.
Chris Smith, branch manager for Waitrose Chipping Sodbury, said: "With more and more people moving to electric vehicles, we're delighted to install charging points, so customers can easily top up while they shop."
Elsewhere, Waitrose Keynsham is also having charging points installed
Waitrose says it plans to install hundreds of EV charging points by 2025.
