ONE person has died following a crash involving a car and a lorry on the M4 yesterday in South Gloucestershire.
Emergency services - including an air ambulance - were called to the scene at around 1pm on Tuesday, March 26 on the westbound carriageway near junction 18 in Tormarton.
One person tragically died at the scene, Avon and Somerset Police said.
Four people were also taken to hospital with injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening or life changing.
The motorway - which has now reopened - was closed in both directions for five hours to allow emergency services to respond.
A police spokesperson said: “Despite the best efforts of emergency services, one person sadly died at the scene.
“Our thoughts are with their family during this difficult time, they are being offered support by a specialist family liaison officer.
“We would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding while we have carried out necessary investigative work.”
Witnesses are asked to call 101 quoting reference number 5224077629.
