SWIMMERS at a club in Dursley have been celebrating after receiving a large number of meals at the county championships.
A group of young swimmers from Dursley Dolphins competed at the Gloucester County Championships at Hengrove Park Leisure Centre in Bristol.
The club saw many podium finishes with four gold, five silver and seven bronze medals with the competition taking place over three weekends in January and February.
Approximately 13 swimmers also achieved qualification times.
The club now has five swimmers who have qualified for the South West Region Championships which are due to take place this month.
These swimmers are: Ava Sumpter aged 12, Georgia Gilbey aged 12, Spencer Smith aged 12, Isla Jago aged 14 and Matilda Mechan aged 16.
Head coach Jon Falco said: "I'm delighted with the results from the County Championships.
“The year-on-year growth throughout the club both in performance and participation is a result of the hard work that the committee and coaching team have been putting in over the last 2 years.
“They have embraced my vision for the club and have been incredibly supportive in helping to create an environment where swimmers can fulfil their potential."
Club chair Adam said: “We are so very proud of all our swimmers in the club.
“Those who have represented, and will be representing the club at this year’s county and regional championships have achieved this through hard work and determination, supported by a dedicated coaching team led by our head coach, Jon Falco.
“We aren’t just about performance though, we can support all swimmers, no matter what their goal.”
The club offers swimming from the age four and currently has limited spaces in most of their squads.
