THERE are currently huge delays on the M5 this afternoon after reports of a “police incident”.
The AA traffic alert system states the motorway was “blocked” due to a “police incident” on the M5 northbound at junction 13 near Stroud.
It is understood drivers are facing delays of up to 60 minutes.
Normal traffic conditions are expected between 5.15pm and 5.30pm, according to the National Highways website.
There has also been disruption on the A38 between Cambridge and Hardwicke.
A spokesperson from Gloucestershire Police said: "We’re dealing with a concern for welfare incident which has led to traffic being held on the M5 near junction 13.
"Motorists are advised to use alternative routes while emergency services remain at the scene.
"The incident was reported at around 2.30pm."

A spokesperson from Gloucestershire Police said in a statement at 5pm this evening: "The M5 has reopened however there is congestion.
"The person is now safe and will receive the appropriate support.
