PEOPLE are being asked for their views over plans to transform Berkeley's town centre as part of a major regeneration project.
The proposed scheme - which was previously unveiled last year - includes improved pedestrian access, lower speed limits, as well as new bike facilities and benches.
Other work includes installing four new raised crossing points and a change of priority for traffic on Marybrook and Canonbury Street, a turning circle for buses and improved delivery access.
It has also been put forward to lower the 30mph speed limit to 20mph in certain areas of the town including sections of Salter Street, Marybrook Street and Canonbury Street.
Meanwhile, other plans could include installing a new statue in honour of local hero Edward Jenner as well as planting new trees and flower beds.
A survey has now been launched by Berkeley Town Council with members of the public urged to give councillors their views on the proposed scheme.
Organisers say it is hoped the works will bolster town centre tourism and support local businesses.
It is understood the work would not change the number of parking spaces in the town centre.
Meanwhile, new spaces would be created as part of the Marybrook Street car park expansion.
The project is being led by Berkeley Town Council’s improvement planning committee in collaboration with Stroud District Chamber of Trade.
A council spokesperson said: “Berkeley Town Council needs you!
“We would like to hear your views on the second phase of our ideas to improve the Town Centre via a short survey.
“Funding has now been secured for the next stage of the project which will create a detailed design.
“This survey will inform design decisions which can then be used to influence funding for the construction phase.”
A consultation event will take place at Berkeley Town Hall on Saturday, May 18

It will close on Monday, May 20.
The project reached a milestone in November last year when Levelling Up Minister Jacob Young visited the town centre as well as Berkeley Castle and Dr Jenner's House.
At the time, Mr Young said, "We want to do everything we can to help Berkeley feel levelled up."
