WALKERS will be strolling through the countryside near Wotton as part of a festival which kicks off next month.
There are 15 fully guided walks covering 112 miles, three counties and for the first time two nations as part of Wotton Walking Festival.
Organisers say walks vary in length from half a mile to 20 miles so there is something for all ages and abilities.
This year’s festival runs from Friday, June 7 to Sunday, June 9.
An organiser said: “Last year’s event was the most popular yet.
“This year the festival committee has been working hard to offer an even greater variety of walks that showcase the wonderful walking opportunities in our corner of the world.”
Amongst the programme are walks that cross national boundaries, look into Wotton’s geological past, explore the Cotswold’s and Monarchs Way paths plus discover hidden gems in our local landscapes.
This year the festival has been generously granted the use of a mini bus by Grimes and Goscombe Funeral Directors which has enabled the programme to offer walks venturing further afield than would normally be possible.
The organiser said: “For the second year Mountain Kingdoms, who have their offices in Wotton, are sponsoring and leading their “Not the Himalaya” walk which might be an opportunity to hear and dream about some bigger hills!
“So break out those boots and take this opportunity to stretch your legs in the stunning countryside that we are so lucky to live in.
“To avoid disappointment, walkers are encouraged to book their places as early as possible.”
Booking will be open from today, Saturday, May 10 via the festival website - wottonwalkingfestival.com
