STAFF and pupils at a pre-school in Yate are celebrating after receiving a good report from education regulator Ofsted.
Inspectors visited St Mary's pre-school in Church Road, Yate on Thursday, March 28, where they deemed the overall rating to be good.
The school also scored a good rating in all four categories - the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development plus leadership and management.
St Mary's had been rated as outstanding in its previous inspection in 2018.
At the time of the recent inspection, the school had 60 children on roll between the ages of two and four.
Inspectors found: "Children who find it hard to settle in are given the time and reassurance they need.
"Staff provide children with comfort when they get upset.
"Children are supported to learn the skills required to be independent for their transition to school and successful future learning.
"Older children are positively encouraged to take care of their own personal needs, fully supported by staff who are close by.
"Younger children make good attempts at getting ready for outdoor play.
"Staff provide a curriculum that is planned around the children's developing needs and interests.
"There is a particularly strong focus on supporting children's speech and language and personal skills
"Children benefit from warm, loving interactions from the attentive staff.
"Partnerships with parents are strong.
"The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
"There is an open and positive culture around safeguarding that puts children's interests first."
In order to improve, inspectors added that the school could 'improve ways to support children in understanding their emotions so they can learn to self-regulate and communicate their feelings more effectively.'
Owner Rachel Moore said: "I am incredibly proud of my staff team, they are dedicated and go above and beyond to support the children in our care of reaching their potential.
"We promote a family feel where children's needs are our priority at all times,
"We were blown away by the reviews given by our current families to Ofsted and celebrated how highly our families that use and have used us in the past value us and we thank all of them for allowing us to care for their children."
