TWO pop-up events about the Badminton Road closure are due to take place this month.

National Highways closed the A432 Badminton Road M4 overbridge on the main road between Bristol and Yate in June 2023.

Officials say they found “accelerated deterioration and cracking” to the south-east underside of the structure, which was built in 1966.

An organiser said: “The events will include proposals from South Gloucestershire Council engineers to help with some of the issues raised by the public, and there will also be representatives from National Highways.”

The project to replace the bridge is expected to take about two years.

Demolition is planned for summer to autumn 2024.

It is believed construction of the new bridge will be completed in 2025.

The first event is on Friday, May 17, from 4pm to 7.45pm at Henfield Hall, Coalpit Heath.

Another event will take place on Monday, May 20 from 3.30pm to 7.15pm at Downend Library.
