CHILDREN and staff from a primary school in Thornbury are celebrating after receiving a donation from a developer.
Crossways Schools have recently installed two new storage sheds to keep outdoor play equipment clean and dry.
The donation was given by developer Miller Homes who is currently building 250 new homes at the nearby Cleve Wood development.
The wider Cleve Wood scheme includes 336 homes, large areas of public open space, a care home and retail space.
Paul Medlicott, deputy head teacher of the Crossways Schools, said: “Our outdoor play project provides an opportunity to all of our children at the schools to enjoy their outdoor activities through a sense of learning, fun and creativity during their breaks from the classroom environment.
“We are very grateful to the donation received from Miller Homes who, alongside the school’s PTA, have made this happen.
“I’d like to say a huge thank you on behalf of the schools, our staff and all our children at Crossways.”
The funding for the storage shed was provided through the developer's community fund.
Carl Cooke, sales director at Miller Homes West Midlands, said: “Our donation to Crossways Schools directly impacts the education of the children attending the school both now and in the future, which is vitally important to their overall learning opportunities.
“Miller Homes’ ethos revolves around building a better place for current and future generations, not just of our homeowners, but of the communities in which we’re building new homes.
“We are really pleased to hear the school are making such good use of the funding they received thanks to their community fund application.
“We look forward to supporting further organisations across the region this year as part of the community fund initiative.”
