A GROUP of railway modellers are laying down the tracks for a new show in the area next weekend.
The first ever Cam and Dursley Model Railway Exhibition is due to take place on Sunday, May 26.
The show has been organised by Wings & Wheels Society Dursley and The Gloucester O Gauge Guild and will have three rooms of working model railway layouts and diorama's (in N/0/00/3mm gauge).
There will also be trade, charity and society stands.
All profits will go towards the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity and the Dursley Community Centre Charitable trust.
An organiser said: “It's the first ever model railway to be held in Dursley and Cam.
“The show is the concept of The Wings & Wheels Society Dursley and the Gloucester O Gauge Group, working within and for the local communities and charities.
“Hopefully if successful we will look forward to making this an annual charity event.”
They added: “The show will have three rooms of working model railway layouts & diorama's (in N/O/OO/3mm gauge), with trade, demonstration, charity and society stands.
“The show will have a partial emphasis on local railways as it will feature a model diorama of Dursley and Berkeley Station circa 1950, a working N gauge layout of Brimscombe that is 24 foot in length! Also, a working OO Gauge layout of St Phillips Station and Yard in Bristol circa 1940's.
“Also, we will have a stand with local Dursley Branch Line photos and memorabilia on show, along with the Vale of Berkeley Railways stand.
“This is to just name a few, in fact there will be a running O gauge test track layout that is approx 30ft x 18ft.
“There will be a total of 12 model railway layouts and diorama's operating throughout the day, by clubs from Bristol, Thornbury, Shirehampton, and others from further afield.
“We will also have a 'Thomas layout' that can be operated by children.
“We hope this event will be enjoyed by family's, old and young, as well as enthusiasts.”
The event is being held at Dursley Community Centre from 10.30am to 5pm.
Entry is £5 per adult, £2.50 for under 16's, £10 for a family.
Refreshments and a bar will be available. Free parking.
