FANS from across the country have travelled over 200 miles to watch some of the UK’s biggest acts at Yate Town Football Club in an ‘out of this world’ six day music extravaganza, writes Leanne Woodruff.
Over 15,000 fans travelled to Lodge Road over the course of six days for the ‘spectacular’ event that kicked off with McFly, one of the UK’s most successful bands, as they headlined at the biggest music event the town has ever seen.
Music lovers were treated to back to back nights of shows by McFly, Jools Holland, Toploader, Scouting for Girls, Sophie Ellis Bexter, Kevin & Perry as well as a host of local acts that have supported the huge bands and singers.
Headline Sponsor, Pearce Bros owner, Dave Pearce was in the crowd to see Jools Holland, he said: “This is out of this world, what an outstanding event we have here on our doorstep.
“At Pearce Bros we were thrilled to sponsor the event for the second time.
"This event has such an amazing community feel, we just had to be involved again.
“Congratulations to James and his team on such a great event!”
Event organiser James Murden, who was introduced to the stage by his eight-year-old son George on the opening night, said he was thrilled to bring the biggest music event with some of the biggest names in the industry to the town.
He said: “What a week we had.
"After months of organising and weeks of final preparations, a yellow weather warning, a few last minute technical difficulties, and the odd rain drop, we have had the best time.
“Opening the event with McFly, we set the bar so high, but I think every show has been utterly outstanding.
“My thanks goes to everyone involved, we’ve had a blast- and we are already looking forward to the next Good Times.”
