SHOPPERS were treated to a display of Fairtrade goods as part of a unique event in Thornbury.
Residents took part in International Fairtrade Day on Saturday, May 11 with passers-by invited to sample Fairtrade bananas and chocolate as well as other goods.
A new Thornbury directory has now been launched with the names of shops and businesses who stock Fairtrade products.
The event was supported by Thornbury Chamber of Commerce, Thornbury Town Council and Thornbury Churches Together.
Thornbury currently has a ‘Fairtrade Town’ status which organisers are hoping to renew in the near future.
Fairtrade guarantees sustainable livelihoods for producers, and 2024 marks 30 years since the Fairtrade logo was first introduced.
This helps consumers by making them aware that Fairtrade social, environmental and economic standards are being met when they pick these products.
