A MAN from the Berkeley area who was caught using a phone while driving faces a whopping fine. 

Benjamin Firth-Bernard, aged 22, of Berkeley Heath, Berkeley, was caught while driving a Nissan Micra on the B4066 in Berkeley on July 15 last year. 

Firth-Bernard pleaded not guilty at Cheltenham Magistrates but was found guilty during the hearing on May 20.

He was fined £219, ordered to pay a surcharge of £88 plus £620 in costs - a total of £927.
Six points were also added to his licence.
