LIVE music, dance and vintage vehicles will once again grace the town with the return of Thornbury Carnival next month.
The popular community carnival held at Mundy Playing Fields is set to return on Friday, July 5 and Saturday, July 7.
The event will include Swing in the Park on the Friday evening with acts including Maximum Robbie who will be performing many of Robbie Williams’ hits plus Thornbury Swing Band.
Meanwhile, the Saturday event will feature a wide range of attractions including stalls, fairground rides, more tribute acts, Weston Donkeys, and a car show.
A children’s activity zone will also have many activities including circus skills workshops, face painting, and crafts.
Tribute acts including those paying homage to Ed Sheeran and the Foo Fighters, a set from local DJ, DJ KitKat, and headline act, DISCO Inferno.
Liam Williams, chair of Thornbury Carnival Committee, said the volunteer team behind the event are really excited about this year’s line-up.
He said: “We’re kicking off the weekend with Swing in the Park on Friday evening and we’ve booked a fantastic Robbie Williams swing tribute, ‘Maximum Robbie’, who’ll be supported by Thornbury Swing Band.
“We’ve also put a lot of effort into the Saturday event to ensure there’s something for everyone.
“We’re opening the event with our community acts for the variety show.
"This will be followed by a performance from Chris Auburn, the very worthy winner of our battle of the bands competition that took place over the first May Bank Holiday Weekend.
“Showcasing local talent has always been central to the event’s ethos and we were delighted to team up with Love Thornbury and some of the local pubs to make this warm-up event happen.”
Liam added: “In response to feedback, this year we’ve introduced an evening ticket for entry after 6pm on the Saturday.
“Considering this ticket will include three acts and a DJ set, well, if you can find a better night out for only £10, I’ll eat my socks!”
