THE secretary of Cam and Dursley Transportation Group has reviewed a new bookable minibus service which has launched across the Berkeley Vale.

The Robin scheme - which was introduced by Gloucestershire County Council - officially launched across Berkeley, Dursley, Wotton and surrounding areas on June 17.

Members of the public are able to book tickets over the phone, online or through an app but will have the option to pay the driver in cash or through card.

Group secretary and commuter David Smith used the service on a recent trip to WWT Slimbridge on Wednesday, June 26.

Mr Smith said: “My wife Elizabeth and I used the Robin On-demand bus to visit Slimbridge WWT.

“We booked by phone on 0345 263 8139.

“We caught the bus from the Carpenters Arms stop in Dursley.

“The bus driver was friendly and helpful.

“The Wildfowl and Wetlands Centre was well worth a visit on the hottest day of the year so far.

“The Robin bus was waiting for us as we came out of the centre.

“There are a range of places to get to/from.

“I suggest Frampton, Whitminster and Saul or possibly Cam and Dursley Station.

“You can also book online. The maximum single fare is £2. Bus passes can be used.

“I understand that the service got off to a slow start.

“Usage is increasing as word spreads. I can recommend the Robin.”
