A SECOND meeting is due to take place giving the public an update on Armstrong Hall in Thornbury.

Members of the public and local arts groups are being invited to the discussion by the Armstrong Hall Trust.

The Armstrong Hall complex in Chapel Street, which included Armstrong Hall and Cossham Hall, closed in 2020 during the pandemic due to ongoing costs.

The much-loved site was a hub for theatre, music and community groups with a wide range of performances, productions and activities taking place.

Since then, many groups have had to relocate outside of town such as Thornbury Musical Theatre Group or to smaller venues within the area.

James Murray, chair of the Armstrong Hall Trust, said: “I would like to welcome you to our 2nd and final engagement meeting as part of our CARPIT (Creating ARts/Performance Space in Thornbury) project.

"We hope this event will give both user groups & the wider Thornbury community an opportunity to feed in to our options appraisal.

“Our aim at this meeting is to share with you the work the Trust has completed to date and receive input on the various options available to the trust before we make our final decision on the outcome of this project.

“Our wish is to have as many of the Town’s Arts groups present at the meeting as possible as well as the wider Thornbury community.

“We very much look forward to holding these final discussions in a positive manner with a clear focus on the future of Arts in the town.”

The meeting will start at 7.30pm on Friday, July 19 at Thornbury Methodist Church.
