LEDBURY Real Ales won a top award for one of its ales at Beer on the Wye.

This weekend was the Herefordshire CAMRA annual beer festival called 'Beer on the Wye'.

The annual festival ran for three days Friday to Sunday July 12 -14 and is managed and run entirely by volunteers and attracts people from all over the UK.

It is located by Hereford Rowing Club and it is now in its 18th year.

This year they had 138 different cask conditioned real ales, an overseas beer bar and over 130 different ciders and perries - most from Herefordshire based small producers.

It is said to be one of the very best beer and cider festivals in the UK.

The Herefordshire beer bar is made up of only Herefordshire based real ale producers and Ledbury Real Ales were honoured to be awarded the 'Herefordshire Beer of the Year' for 2024 with a 4.8% brew called 'Rock the Hops Pale Ale'.

The beer is brewed with hops from the UK, US and NZ with the UK hops all being locally grown, including First Gold grown in Dormington by James Hawkins, Goldings grown in Bishops Frome by Richard Hancock and Godiva grown in Bosbury by Sarah Hawkins.

This beer was originally created with Tony Skelton, the landlord from The Wyche Inn, Colwall as a one off brew for his pub, but was so good that it has been brewed commercially every since.

Established in early 2012 by Ant and Kate Stevens, Ledbury Real Ales is focused on producing a small range of high quality cask conditioned real ales.
