FRESH plans have been revealed to demolish an office building and build new retirement apartments in Chipping Sodbury.
Developer McCarthy Stone has unveiled plans to build 63 flats in the Hillside Court site in Bowling Hill.
The proposed development includes 34 one-bedroom flats and 22 two-bedroom apartments, which would be available for people aged over 70.
The building was previously occupied by insurance company Marsh Mclennan until the business vacated the property in June 2021.
A planning application was originally submitted by McCarthy Stone for the scheme in October 2022 and was eventually withdrawn in November 2023.
McCarthy Stone has now opened an online consultation asking members of the public for their views on the new scheme.
According to the consultation, new shared facilities would also be built, including a communal lounge and bistro, landscaped gardens and 24-hour care and support.
Meanwhile, 33 car parking spaces for residents, staff and visitors would also be created.
A spokesperson from McCarthy Stone said: “The revised proposal is to replace the vacant Hillside Court office with an architecturally sensitive scheme of Extra Care accommodation
“The apartments proposed would be delivered alongside associated shared facilities, including a communal lounge and bistro, landscaped gardens and 24-hour tailored care and support, which responds to the Officer’s feedback on the need to provide more facilities on the site, as part of the development.
“As part of our commitment to community engagement, McCarthy Stone has begun a community consultation programme.
“This is to inform local people of the proposals and gather early feedback which, where possible, will be used to inform the plans prior to their submission to South Gloucestershire Council.”
The consultation ends on July 25.
