TWO hit bands from the 90s and 00s are performing at a new festival in South Gloucestershire next month.
Small Town, Big Music takes place at Almondsbury Creative from Friday, September 6 to Sunday, September 8.
Headline acts include Five, known for hits like Keep On Movin' and Everybody Get Up, and Liberty X, known for tracks like Just a Little and Thinking It Over.
Other headliners at the festival include Tenille Arts (whose 2019 single Somebody Like That reached number 50 on the Billboard Hot 100), Kezia Gill, Doreen Doreen and Showhawk Duo.
There is additionally a children’s stage, as well as a funfair, axe throwing, bars, food trucks and stalls.
Small Town, Big Music is the brainchild of Garth and Beccy Jackson, the husband-and-wife team behind Almondsbury Creative (formerly known as Almondsbury Sports & Social Club) in Gloucester Road.
The event is also raising money for Almondsbury Parish Hall and Recreation Ground, The Grand Appeal and Jessie May.
British boy band Five was formed in 1997 and was made up of Ritchie Neville, Scott Robinson, Sean Conlon, Jason “J” Brown and Abz Love.
The group today consists of Ritchie, Scott and Sean.
English–Irish pop group Liberty X was formed by the runners-up of the 2001 TV talent show Popstars.
Its members were Jessica Taylor, Kelli Young, Michelle Heaton, Tony Lundon and Kevin Simm.
Today, the group is made up of Jessica, Kelli and Michelle.
Commenting on Small Town, Big Music, Garth said: “After running mini festivals on site for the last four years, we’ve decided to take things a step further and host our most ambitious venture yet.
“Each day is curated by Almondsbury Creative, the local business at the heart of the festival site.
“It’s been a long journey to get to this point, and we’re very excited for all the opportunities the festival can provide for the local community.
“Many of the proceeds will go to supporting charities, clubs and societies in the area, including Almondsbury Parish Hall.”
Five and Liberty X are performing on the Sunday of Small Town, Big Music.
Meanwhile, Saturday’s festival day is dedicated to Americana.
Those looking for a weekend festival experience can also take advantage of the camping facilities available on Almondsbury FC’s first team’s pitch.
