A STROUD gymnast has been selected to represent Team GB at the World Championships.
Lila from Stroud, age 14, along with her base Polly age 19, are an acrobatic woman’s pair who train at King Edmund Acrogymnastics in Yate.
They have now been selected to represent Great Britain at the World Championships in Portugal.
This is a dream come true for the girls.
Acrobatic gymnastics is a competitive discipline - think cirque du soleil or giffords circus! - where partnerships work together and perform figures consisting of acrobatic moves, dance and tumbling, set to music.
It is performative and jaw dropping to watch, it involves dance routines full of flips and twists and balances, often at a great height.
This year, after sucessful selection trials at the National Sports Centre in Lilleshall, and achieving silver medals at the British Championships, Lila and Polly earned the honour of representing GB on the world stage.
Lila hopes to be busking in Stroud with her handstand blocks to raise money for her GB kit and flights over the next few weeks, so please look out for her!
