A YATE man who dropped a cigarette butt has been prosecuted and landed with a whopping legal bill.
Paul Knight, aged 40, of Stinchcombe, Yate, was prosecuted under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and must now pay out more than £400.
Knight was caught discarding the butt in the Horsefair area of Bristol on July 24 last year.
The case was proved under the single justice procedure at Portsmouth Magistrates Court on August 29.
A £220 fine was imposed plus an £88 surcharge and £130 in costs - bringing the total to £438.
