A NEW Co-op convenience store in Chipping Sodbury has recently opened its doors for the first time.

The shop - which officially opened on Friday, September 13 - is located in Heron Way next to the Tern Inn.

It was opened by chair of Dodington Parish Council Chris Zapata.

According to officials, 15 new jobs have been created at the site.

It is the first Co-Op shop to open in the Yate and Sodbury area.

Customers previously had to travel to Winterbourne, Downend or Charfield to visit a Co-Op store.

Store manager Max Davis said: “The whole team is delighted to have the opportunity to launch Co-op’s newest store.

“It looks fantastic, and we are looking forward to welcoming our members and customers into their Co-op.”

Cllr Zapata said: “We are delighted to see the new Co-Op store open on Heron Way.

"Having looked around it, it is bright, well-stocked and the staff are friendly and helpful.

"The new store will be a real asset to the community”.

It also offers an online home delivery service through Deliveroo and UberEats.

In addition, a soft plastic recycle unit is available in store to recycle ‘soft plastics’ including crisp packets, lids from ready meals and yogurt pots.

Mr Davis added: “Our aim is to operate at the heart of local life, and we have worked to develop the range, choice and added services to create a compelling offer to serve and support our community, conveniently.

"Co-op also has a focus on delivering value, with member price savings across a wide range of everyday essentials so that the people who own our business, our member-owners, benefit every time they shop.”

The shop is open between 7am-10pm daily.
