AN UPDATE has been released about the ongoing works at Thornbury recycling centre.
The Short Way site closed on Monday, September 16 for “essential repairs” - which are due to last three weeks.
Work includes repairs to the wall along the entrance ramp, parts of the reuse shop building and routine maintenance in the yard.
Officials from South Gloucestershire Council say repairs are “going well” at the centre which includes the reuse shop.
It is believed the site is currently “on track” to reopen on time by Monday, October 7.
A council spokesperson from the authority’s street care team said: “The works taking place at our Sort It recycling centre in Thornbury are going well.
“The repairs to the retaining wall and reuse shop building are essential to ensure the site is safe for the public to use and we are on track for the site to reopen by Monday, October 7.
“All our recycling centres routinely need repairs and maintenance to keep them safe for the public to use and for site staff to operate.
“We try to keep disruption to a minimum, but it is not always possible for the sites to remain open while work takes place.
“Thank you for your patience.”
The recycling centres at Yate, Little Stoke and Mangotsfield are still open as usual.
