A CLOSURE is in place on the M5 which is leading to serious delays following heavy rain and flooding.
The M5 is closed southbound between J14 Falfield and J15 (M4).
Just after 2pm, a National Highways spokesperson said: This is for safety reason following heavy rain and subsequent flooding of the carriageway.
"There are 20 minute delays at present but these will increase."
A further update, at 3pm, read: "The M5 in Gloucestershire remains closed southbound between J14 near Thornbury and J15 near Almondsbury due to flooding following heavy rainfall.
"Delays of at least 60 minutes with 4 miles of congestion on approach.
