THE skies over Stroud will once again explode with light all in aid of good causes.

Families are invited to enjoy the Five Valleys Fireworks at Marling School Playing Fields in Cainscross Road on Monday, October 28.

Crowds of around 4,000 visitors attend each year with the firework display provided by the award-winning Star Fireworks all choreographed to music.

The event features the Stonehouse-based John Coneley’s Funfair plus a variety of food and non-alcoholic drink outlets.

There is also free entertainment for under 12s by renowned south west Punch and Judy entertainer John Harvey, who will perform three separate shows prior to the fireworks.

Rotarian John Jeynes, one of the organisers, said: “We rely on local businesses to sponsor the event without whose generosity the event would not be possible to continue.

“All profits raised are distributed to local charities and good causes with at least 50 per cent going towards young people an acknowledgement to the events origin at Ebley Children’s Home around 50 years ago.

Advanced tickets for this ever-popular event are now on sale.

Advanced adult tickets are £10 with under 12 years priced at £5 - a saving of 20 per cent on gate prices.
