THORNBURY came alive at a unique community day with unique skills and passions out on show.

The much-loved Fun Palace event returned across the town on Saturday, October 5 where the public were able to discover new hobbies and free activities.

Sessions included steel pan music and workshops, woodland crafts, macrame workshops and even a pretend protest by Thornbury Musical Theatre Group to promote the play Made in Dagenham.

Other activities also took place at Thornbury Library, Thornbury Leisure Centre, Bristol Academy of Live Performing Arts and The Pod by Thornbury Skate Park.

Thornbury mayor James Murray was in attendance at the event with his family, meeting visitors and joining in with activities.

Organisers have thanked the community for their support and says the event keeps getting bigger and bigger every year.

Lisa Straccia, from JIGSAW Thornbury who led the organising committee said: “Thornbury Fun Palace is such a unique event where people give up their time and share their passion to give back to their community bringing them closer together.

“I couldn’t be prouder of this event that just gets bigger and bigger each year.

“Thank you to everyone that got involved and to all those that came.”
