AN ANIMAL shelter based in the Dursley area has revealed when it is planning to open a new large charity shop.

Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home is planning to open a store at former car dealership Thompson First MG in London Road, Bowbridge in Stroud.

An official ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on Friday, November 8 with television presenter Alex Lovell from ITV West Country.

The new site will be the eighth charity shop run by the animal shelter - which is based in Cambridge off the A38.

It will also be the second shop run by the charity in Stroud - joining its existing store in George Street.

The new store will sell a range of pre-loved items, from clothing and accessories to home goods, furniture and books.

The charity - which has been running for more than 80 years - provides care and support to vulnerable animals.

It supports more than 1,000 animals each year.

Alex Lovell said: “As someone who cares deeply about animal welfare, I am thrilled to be part of the opening of this wonderful new charity shop in Stroud for The Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home.

“It’s inspiring to see a space dedicated to supporting animals in need, and I’m honoured to help launch this initiative.

“This shop will play such a vital role in raising funds to provide care, safety, and loving homes for animals in our community.

“I can't wait to see the positive impact it will have and to be a part of something so meaningful.

Kirstin Maycock CDCH’s retail operations manager said: “We’re so pleased to open our eighth charity shop, which will allow us to make an even greater impact in the community.

“Every purchase made here supports the animals in our care, providing them with the resources they need for a second chance at a brighter future.

“We’re looking forward to this shop becoming a valued part of Stroud and creating a welcoming space where locals can support animal welfare in a meaningful way.

“The need for additional support is more pressing than ever, with a growing number of animals requiring rescuing and care.

“The Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home hopes that the new shop will not only raise vital funds but also raise awareness about the importance of animal welfare.”

The shop is located at Unit 1 Butterrow Hill, Bowbridge, Stroud, GL5 2EE.

It will be open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm and on Sunday’s from 10am to 4pm.

Members of the public are invited to attend the opening ceremony on Friday which will start at 10am.
