A POLICE probe is underway into a series of violent vandal attacks on a historic family-run pub near Thornbury.
Over the past year, The Fox Inn in Old Down has been targeted by vandals three times.
In the last incident, on Wednesday, October 16, three masked men smashed several windows of the 18th-century venue as well as the windows of the landlord’s Land Rover using weapons around 1.30am.
During the incident, CCTV shows one man wielding a baseball bat, another holding a sledgehammer and a third recording the attack.
Manager Jes Fleming said: “A lot of our customers and friends will be aware that over the last 12 months we have been the victim of repeated vandalism.
“It’s been a really horrible time for us even more so with the most recent attacks as my 90-year-old grandad is now living with us upstairs.
“If you have any information relating to this incident please contact the police directly.”
Avon and Somerset Police told the Gazette they have followed up a number of lines of inquiry as part of their investigation. .
They are now appealing to members of the public to help with their investigation.
A police spokesperson said: “Police are appealing for witnesses and information over damage that was done to at a pub in Old Down near Thornbury.
“It happened at about 1.40am on Wednesday, October 16.
“Three masked people, believed to be young men, smashed several windows of the pub and of a Land Rover Sport in the car park.
“One had a sledgehammer and was wearing a blue tracksuit and white trainers.
“A second had a baseball bat and wore a blue jacket, dark-coloured trousers and white trainers.
“The third wore dark clothing.
“Officers attended at the time but found no trace of those responsible.
“Since then they have followed up a number of lines of enquiry.
