TWO new businesses in Thornbury have been helped as part of a £200,000 grant scheme, officials say.
The scheme aimed to bring vacant units back into use across high streets in South Gloucestershire.
One of the new businesses in the town includes Thornbury Dental Wellness Clinic which recently opened its doors last month.
The clinic aims to transform dental care with new technology and a focus on patient comfort, environmental sustainability, and community engagement.
Meanwhile, the second business which has been supported is Chickp. Ltd which is expected to start trading towards the end of February next year.
The organisation, led by a team of working mums, runs transformation and change projects for large corporations to improve work and life quality.
The business plans to open a ‘strategy studio’ in Thornbury, offering a range of community and mental wellbeing services, including free monthly drop-in therapy sessions.
Altogether South Gloucestershire Council says 15 new businesses have opened across the region thanks to the scheme.
Another new business includes Creative Spaces in Staple Hill high street which plans to run craft and creative workshops and courses.
Council co-leader Ian Boulton said: “It’s fantastic to have been able to support 14 new businesses to open their doors on our high streets through the vacant unit grant scheme.
“South Gloucestershire Council is committed to supporting businesses at every stage of their journey, whether they are new start-ups or established businesses looking to expand.
“The vacant unit grant scheme is just one of the many ways we help businesses grow and thrive.
“By choosing to shop locally, residents contribute to the sustainability and prosperity of South Gloucestershire.
“I would encourage everyone to visit their local high streets, support these new ventures, and be part of our community’s growth.”
The scheme was funded by the West of England Combined Authority through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, administered by WECA.
The scheme focused on eight high street areas including Chipping Sodbury, Station Road in Yate, Thornbury, Downend, Filton, Hanham, Kingswood and Staple Hill.
