FESTIVE fun descended on Thornbury as the town’s Christmas lights were officially switched on over the weekend.
The annual event on Saturday included festival stalls, live music and a funfair.
There were also live performances from groups such as Thornbury Musical Theatre Group and Thornbury Town Band.
Other performances included Better Communication Bristol's Makaton Choir, Emma Kate's Dance Academy, BALPA, and the Songbirds Choir.
This year the lights were switched on by two local residents Len and Bob - who are supported by Age UK, the event’s charity partner.
The event was organised by Thornbury Christmas Lights Association in collaboration with LoveThornbury.
The festive group also celebrated a milestone moment as former chair Brian Roberts was awarded the prestigious Freedom of the Parish Award by Thornbury mayor James Murray.
Brian had previously served as chair of the festive group for the last 25 years.
He is the second person ever to receive this honour, in recognition of his dedication to the town.
Association chairperson Sally Higgins said: “We are very grateful to all of these wonderful groups for donating their time and keeping the people of Thornbury entertained!
“The Thornbury Christmas Lights Switch-On has always been a special occasion, but this year, it truly surpassed expectations.
“We also want to thank everyone who supported us in putting on the event, it's a real herculean effort and especially Love Thornbury.
“We’re thrilled with the community’s support, the fun atmosphere, and the funds raised for Age UK. It’s a testament to the spirit of Thornbury.”
