A NEW Aldi store is due to open in South Gloucestershire next month.
The shop in Merlin Road near Cribbs Causeway will open its doors on Thursday, December 5.
The store will officially be opened by Olympic gold medallist Tom McEwen in a ribbon cutting ceremony.
Officials say the shop will be run by store manager Shaun Curtis-Fleckney, along with a team of 23 colleagues.
Shaun said: “We can’t wait to open the doors to the new store in Cribbs Causeway.
“It’s set to be a special day and having Olympic hero Tom McEwen join us will make it a morning to remember.”
Equestrian star Tom McEwen won gold at the Paris Olympics after winning the Eventing Team Jumping Final at the Château de Versailles.
Tom - who lives in Tetbury - trains at Gatcombe Park near Stroud - the home of Princess Anne.
He said: “I’m so excited to be opening Aldi’s new store; it will be great to chat to customers and a lovely way for me to thank Aldi for its support of Team GB.”
The new store will be open from 8am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and on Sunday’s from 10am to 4pm.
Officials say charities will be able to collect surplus food from the shop if they contact Aldi at aldi@neighbourly.com
