GYMNASTS from Thornbury recently excelled at a recent competition, coming away with several medals.

Young athletes from Kestrel Acrobatics and Tumbling Club attended the Club Development Competition at Yate International Gymnastics Club on October 27.

The club competed in pairs and trios in different categories.

Poppy and Poppy beat off fierce competition in the Novice 2, 12U Women’s Pairs category, winning a gold medal with an excellent score of 14.60.

Meanwhile, Anna and Evie performed a routine in the Novice 3, 12U Women’s Pairs category and secured 1st place with an amazing score of 15.20, the sixth-highest score of the entire morning.

In the same category, Anya and Lily came away with a bronze medal, with Laura and Sienna following closely behind in fourth, and Maria and Isobel in sixth.

Lily, Oyku, and Ozge displayed some impressive skills in the Novice 3, 13+ Women’s Groups category, achieving a silver medal.

Kyla, Rose, and Chloe secured a bronze medal with a solid performance in the Novice 2, 12U Women’s Groups category.

Bethany, Nelia, and Nerissa also gained a bronze medal, competing in the Novice 1, 12U Women’s Groups category.

Isla and Esme also performed in the Novice 1 12U Women’s Pairs category - which was their first competition together.

Head coach Lyn Kebaletwse-Price said: “Congratulations to all of Kestrel’s competitors for a superb performance at these regional championships.

“We’re all looking forward to seeing their progress as they work towards the next competitions in 2025.”

The club trains at Thornbury Leisure Centre and the Methodist Church Hall.
