PLANS have been submitted to open a new takeaway in Thornbury high street.
A planning application has been put forward to transform an old office previously occupied by Chappell and Matthew estate agents.
Proposals - which have been submitted to South Gloucestershire Council - also include creating three new flats on the first, second and third floors.
The proposed plan includes creating the eatery as well as a one bedroom flat on the ground floor.
Meanwhile, a two bedroom flat would be created on the first floor and a one bedroom flat on the second and third floor.
The application states a single storey rear extension would be built as well as a new entrance which would separate access to the takeaway, and the flats.
It is currently unknown what type of takeaway would open in the High Street, if plans are approved.
The proposed site dates back to the 19th century when it was occupied by William Yarnold Watch Maker and called the "the Noted House”.
Since 1965 the property has been used by various estate agents, initially King Miles, then Alder King, Black Horse Agencies and later Chappell and Matthews The applicant says in the application the proposed scheme would generate work for local tradespeople during the construction phase A statement reads: “The proposal is designed to create good quality well designed dwellings whilst retaining the existing commercial unit and frontage.
“This renovation of the building will be a good addition to surrounding housing needs whilst still maintaining the ground floor use as a commercial property.
“The proposal has been carefully designed to provide good quality living with various opportunities to use the dwellings as the new occupants choose.
“With good access to local shops and networks the proposal meets the requirements set out by the local council.”
The application was submitted by applicant Loh Architecture and Design Ltd on October 22.
