MAJOR ROADS across the Yate area are still closed in the aftermath of Storm Bert.
As of 8am this morning, South Gloucestershire Street Care say the below are closed.
• A431 Bath Rd Swineford
• Shire Way Yate (and adjacent roads)
• St Johns Way Chipping Sodbury (and adjacent roads)
• Stidcot Lane Tytherington
• Perrinpit Road, Frampton Cotterell
• Old Gloucester Rd Winterbourne
Please avoid these areas.
A red alert was issued but this has now been removed after river levels dropped overnight.
Yate Leisure Centre was opened opened up last night as an Emergency Rest Centre after houses flooded in Slimbridge Close and Littledean.
A JustGiving Page has now been set up to help the victims of flooding in the Yate and Chipping Sodbury areas, which has already raised £1,000.
A post from the page read: "So many people have said they want to DO something to help those whose homes in our town have been flooded (on Sunday night).
"I am pleased to say Yate Parish (the church) have agreed to act as the host for donations - which means you can gift aid the donations.
"All the money received through this page will be used to support those affected by the floods who need help.
"A normal day - and then your home is flooded, your car wrecked, your treasurer possessions destroyed, we've seen the images tonight, in our town. People want to help and here is a way to do so."

On Sunday night, major roads in the area were closed due to the ongoing impacts of flooding.
The Fire Service and South Gloucestershire Council have reported flooding across several areas of the region.
Flooded roadways include the A431 around Bath Road in Swineford, Shire Way Yate and adjacent roads, St Johns Way in Chipping Sodbury and adjacent roads, Stidcot Lane in Tytherington, Perrinpitt Lane in Bristol, and Old Gloucester Road in Winterbourne.
The M32 in Bristol was closed northbound between J1 near Hambrook and the M4 J19, and the A49 in Shropshire and Herefordshire was closed in both directions between Ludlow and Holmer.
According to South Gloucestershire Council, all schools in the area opened as normal today, Monday.
