SOUTH Gloucestershire Council has been celebrating a successful 12 months.
The council has recently published two reports, its Annual Performance Report, which highlights the success of its services over the last year, and its Annual Partnership Report, which details the council’s work with other local organisations.
The Annual Performance Report said South Gloucestershire Council offers excellent value for money with overall satisfaction with the council improving from 53 to 57 percent.
The reports showed the council is making strong progress with its services for older people’s well being and young people’s achievement.
Cllr John Calway, leader of South Gloucestershire Council, said: "We are grateful for the contribution of councillors, staff and partners to our successes.
"Our ambition is quite simple to make South Gloucestershire a great place to live and work. Our results over the last year show we are achieving that and we will continue working to ensure it stays that way.
"We will continue to strive for excellence whilst ensuring we use our resources as efficiently as possible."
The Annual Partnership Report has detailed all the achievements of the council with its partnership groups.
The partnership is made up of a variety of organisations and groups in South Gloucestershire, ranging from the public sector such as the council, the PCT and the police, and businesses such as Airbus UK and The Mall.
The aim of the partnership is for members to work together to tackle local issues.
During the last 12 months the partnership has published a Sustainable Community Strategy, which outlines what the partnership will do for the next 20 years.
The partnership has also been involved with the Local Development Framework, which will manage significant growth in the South Gloucestershire in the future.
John Godwin, South Gloucestershire Council’s executive member for external affairs and partnerships, said: "The South Gloucestershire Partnership can be proud of its achievements during the past year. It makes a real difference to the lives of people in South Gloucestershire and I look forward to its continuing success."
