TALENTED teenagers descended on Yate on Saturday for the town’s own version of the X Factor.
Young dancers, singers and entertainers performed to the biggest crowd ever in the history of Yate Talent Contest – Reach for the Stars.
After a touch competition, Irish dance group Celtic Storm were eventually crowned winners for the second year in a row.
Tracy King, marketing manager for Yate Shopping Centre which hosted the event, said: "The standard of acts was outstanding, making judging a real challenge.
"With the sun shining it was a great day out for all the family.
"It was an enormous success with record figures attending."
She said footfall figures showed an increase of 7,000 people from last year’s event.
Visitors were treated to a variety show of acts including an Elvis impersonator, dance displays, rock and pop bands and singing divas.
A panel of judges, including the Gazette’s circulation manager Brian Cook, had the difficult task of picking a winner.
Mr Cook said: "I am amazed every year that the talent is as strong and varied as it is.
"We had such a variety of talent from an eight-year-old saxophonist to an elderly gentleman who played the organ.
"Winners Celtic Storm thoroughly deserved their win and were as professional, if not more so, than last year."
Charity street stalls lined the shopping centre walkways and a family fair with a bouncy castle and free face painting provided plenty of fun for everyone.
