Pre-season Friendly; Mangotsfield United 3 Almondsbury Town 1

GOALS from strikers Mitchell Page, Tom Collett and Simon Dew gave British Gas Business League’s Mangotsfield United a comfortable 3-1 win over Hellenic League Premier side Almondsbury Town on Monday night.

Page put Mangotsfield ahead with a confident shot from 12 yards out but despite setting up a series of chances Mangotsfield failed to add to their score first half.

On 65 minutes former Taunton player Tom Collett set up the second goal with Finch finishing well from close range.

With 13 minutes remaining ‘Field made it 3-0 when James Crew was brought down in the box with Drew hitting the resulting spot kick low into the net.

Almondsbury grabbed a late consolation goal through Yuan Cai who found the net from some 15 yards.

Mangotsfield manager Paul Milsom commented: “Our performance against Longwell Green on the Saturday was not the best but we bounced back against Almondsbury, who are a good side, and gave a big performance, with new boys Mich Tippings, Shaun Morris , together with Alex Ball, outstanding.

This Saturday Mangotsfield are home to strong Welsh League side Port Talbot, in what Milsom expects to be a tough challenge.
